The 2026 race is for the newly redrawn Michigan State Senate District 8. The winner will begin serving the new district in 2027.
The new District 8 was approved under the Crane A1 map and covers a tight cluster of western Wayne and Oakland County communities. For Ken, this is home territory — places he's served as a medic, as a mayor, and as a neighbor.
Because the boundaries are new, both name recognition and outreach matter across the entire district. The campaign is building an early, modern, district-wide presence — not just relying on familiar ground.
Senate District 8 is made up of the following communities under the newly approved map.
The new District 8 combines areas where Ken has the deepest service history with communities where name recognition and outreach will matter most.
Farmington and Farmington Hills are where Ken has spent 20+ years in elected office and where his record is best known. That foundation gives the campaign a credible starting point with voters who already know how he serves.
Livonia, Novi, and Northville bring large pieces of the new district into the picture. Ken is committed to showing up early — through events, video, and direct outreach — so voters in these communities know exactly who he is before the August primary.
